Broadwater Health Center Auxiliary members are gearing up for the 54th annual Rodeo Barbeque to be held at Memorial Park across from the Court House Sunday Aug 06 beginning at 11am. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under.
Master cooks Keith Kirscher, Larry Woodring and Vic Sample barbeque some fifteen beef roasts. Rural Fire Dept members and the Auxiliary serve about 100 pounds of potato salad, roasters of baked beans, barbeque sauce and chocolate chip cookies. The Eliel Band will play their special brand of country music. In past years around 300 community members enjoyed the music and the company at the annual event .
Tickets for a chance to win a quilt will be available at the barbeque. The quilt was made by Marion Iverson, who passed way two years ago. Mrs. Iverson was a member of the Auxiliary. Tickets are $5.00 per ticket or six for $25.00.
Broadwater County Cattlewomen had headed up the barbeque for more than fifty years when they turned over the task to the Auxiliary three years ago. Auxiliary members include members of the Townsend Health Systems board, the Ambulance crew and hospital staff. Townsend Rotary members and State Bank of Townsend staff help set up the event.
Cost of the annual event runs about $2,000, most of which is underwritten this year by sponsors Graymont, Inc. and Bruce Seed Company. Other sponsors include Watson Irrigation, Broadwater Realty, Williams Plumbing, Townsend Drug and Spirits and Northwestern Energy.
Any proceeds from the event will be used to upgrade the rooms at BHC Nursing Home or to purchase other hospital equipment.
