The Rotary Club of Townsend is sponsoring a bale decorating contest again this year to help publicize the Townsend Fall Fest September 29-October 1. The only requirements are that any signs with the creation must include the word “bale”, “hay” or “straw” and that the creation must be in Broadwater County. Rotary also wants to post a banner announcing Fall Fest alongside your creation. Three winners will be selected with prizes of $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Please try to have the creations completed by September 2
Slice of Summer Host’s the News.
On August 19th Townsend will host the Montanacana Music Festival. For years, local resident Mike Harvey has been responsible for the music lineup at the hugely successfull Townsend Fall Fest Event. In addition to Fall Fest Mike was responsible for expanding the August Slice of Summer last year to a major music event and scheduled the bands for last year and again this year (August 2017 Slice of Summer will be on Aug 17 featuring The Sleeping Giants and Sho-Down.

Broadwater Health Center Auxiliary members are gearing up for the 54th annual Rodeo Barbeque to be held at Memorial Park across from the Court House Sunday Aug 06 beginning at 11am. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under.

At the age of 92 years young, Dorothy Hahn just keeps on a keepin’ on.
She will be serving buns and barbequed beef again at Townsend’s Rodeo Barbeque picnic during and following the annual rodeo parade, Sunday, August 6, at Memorial Park across the street from the county courthouse.
The Annual Chamber 4th of July Picnic was a big success. The picnic, organized by Marcia Bieber with help from Ross Johnson, Anne Hall, Larinda Spenser, Brian and Claudette Hohn and Vic Sample, served approximately 120 people during the 3 hour event at Heritage Park.
Everyone in attendenace had a lot of fun -- especially the Chamber Members working at the event!
The Montana Department of Labor is hosting a free safety training event called SafetyFestMT August 14 - August 17 at the airport campus of Helena College. SafetyFestMT is designed so that participants can pick and choose what's applicable to them.
We know that it's hard for smaller businesses to send folks all day, so we have plenty of two-hour sessions they can attend as well.
