Native Broadwater County resident, Vic Sample will present a talk on Broadwater County history, Tuesday November 7, in the Community Room on the Townsend schools campus. Vic recently presented the talk to the 7th graders at Townsend Schools at the Canton Church. People who heard his talk have asked him to present it to the general public. Please join us at 7 pm. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
Thursday November 2, the Helena Sunrise Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Townsend are sponsoring Trivia Night to raise money for an Interact Scholarship for a Townsend Interact Club student. The Rotary Club of Townsend is currently helping form a brand new Interact Club for Townsend Youth.

Local business are decorated, jumbotrons are running, and “Tow Mater” and the other bale creations are up. It’s time for the Townsend Rotary Club Fall Fest! Friday, in Heritage Fun Park, local Rotarians, spouses, friends, volunteers, and vendors will be setting up a stage, canopies, and tents to entertain the public and sell their wares. The Rotary Club has been a major provider of entertainment in Broadwater County since 1939.
News reports from all over the country were raving about the infection quickly consuming the nation. People were suffering from flu-like symptoms and quickly dyeing within a week. The Rotary Club of Townsend is sponsoring a bale decorating contest again this year to help publicize the Townsend Fall Fest September 29-October 1. The only requirements are that any signs with the creation must include the word “bale”, “hay” or “straw” and that the creation must be in Broadwater County. Rotary also wants to post a banner announcing Fall Fest alongside your creation. Three winners will be selected with prizes of $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Please try to have the creations completed by September 2
Slice of Summer Host’s the News.
On August 19th Townsend will host the Montanacana Music Festival. For years, local resident Mike Harvey has been responsible for the music lineup at the hugely successfull Townsend Fall Fest Event. In addition to Fall Fest Mike was responsible for expanding the August Slice of Summer last year to a major music event and scheduled the bands for last year and again this year (August 2017 Slice of Summer will be on Aug 17 featuring The Sleeping Giants and Sho-Down.
